About Power Readers

Hi! My name is Andrea Stranges! I am a teacher, a reading specialist, and a literacy consultant. I have been in education for over 20 years. My entry into structured literacy began in 2021 when I couldn't figure out why over 25 percent of the students in my intermediate class (all kids that I previously taught in grade 1) were struggling readers. Since then, I have learned so much about how the brain learns to read. I am also the parent of a struggling student. My son has been my biggest teacher in life and I have now made it my mission to ensure that, in K-12, all doors stay open for kids. Learning to read is a basic human right. Together, as parents, system and school leaders, teachers and change makers, we can create sustainable, equitable learning outcomes for all students!  Please join me on this co-learning journey!
